Meet your hosts, Matt Daigh and EV Knight

You could call Matt a “Jack of all trades” but he has mastered a few along the way. Having had 10 different jobs that you could call “careers” between the ages of 18 and 28, Matt had a hard time just settling in. He’s always been entrepreneurial. He even started a DJ business at age 15.

By the time 2006, and his 28th birthday rolled around, he was doing very well as a DJ and decided to quit his day job, leaving the steady pay and company car behind. Since then, he sold off the very successful DJ company, and opened a themed bar in a tiny town in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. That lead him into hiring bands from the area, and then turning a warehouse across the street from the bar into a concert venue. He has worked with Saliva, Winger, Steelheart, Brian Vander Ark, Joe Diffie, Scott Wilson of Saving Abel, and many local and regional bands.

He’s on the podcast because he married into talent. Well, OK, he’s a pretty creative guy, too. But EV Knight is the real talent in that department. Having been in the DJ business for so long, he’s not shy behind a mic and has had to be quick on his feet, so we hope you find him to be a good host and co-creator.

EV Knight always wanted to be a writer. Her family encouraged her to get a regular, steady, normal job. So, she went ahead and became a doctor. In 2015, still suffering from the urge to put her ideas on paper, she looked for the proper motivation to test her skill and will as an author. She found a book called Instigation: Creative Prompts on the Dark Side by Michael Arnzen. One chapter consists of 365 writing prompts and she decided to dedicate one year to writing every day, based on these prompts.

Dr. Arnzen teaches in Seton Hill University’s (yes, it’s Hill, not Hall) MFA program in writing popular fiction, and reached out to EV to cheer her writing on and encourage her to come to school. She earned her degree in January of 2019, writing a thesis novel entitled The Fourth Whore. That novel was picked up by Raw Dog Screaming Press and will be published in 2020. She also wrote over 350 other pieces in 2015 and 2016, so she has a big catalog of short fiction and poetry, and a few new novel ideas ready to be written.

EV leans toward horror, but Matt is a jokester and loves to learn, so they will explore all genres in Brain Squalls. They are married and live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with their kids and their 2 hairless cats.
